Manchester has topped lists as the UK’s number 1 city to be a property investor, according to the UK’s top comparison site Go Compare.
In order to score the 31 cities, Go Compare compiled the ranking based on average property price, yield, number of properties available, population under 35 and average rental growth, amongst other factors.
Manchester scored highly across the board, with impressive average rental yields of 5.5% (the highest in the UK), low average property prices of just £173,381 and an abundance of young professionals flocking to living in the city centre - 322,000 in total!
London was ranked at number 2. Despite higher rentals, number of properties available and a population of under 35’s at over £4 million, the extortionate properties prices and decline in rental growth rendered the average rental returns the lowest in the UK at just 3.05%.
Other cities to make the top 10 were Liverpool (5.05% yields), Birmingham (4.61%) and Cardiff (4.78%), all with impressive rental returns.
Brighton, Oxford and Belfast, all came bottom of the list. Take a look at the full list over at Go Compare’s website here.
